Dubbo weight loss challenge Downsizing Dubbo is making headlines yet again. The campaign was started by SuperFastDiet entrepreneurs Victoria Black and Genevieve Davidson. Before long, both Anytime Fitness centres in the region had joined in. And the campaign is now proudly celebrating having helped one of Australia’s most overweight towns trim their waistlines.
Dubbo weight loss challenge
Channel Nine’s The Today Show championed the challenge, which centres around the regional centre of Dubbo. They identified Dubbo as one of the most overweight areas in Australia. In fact, NSW regional cities now rate among the worst with approximately 80% either overweight or obese. Australia’s Health Tracker by Area reveals 70 per cent of people over the age of 18 in Dubbo undertake “no or little” exercise, for instance. So, inactivity is a major issue. Likewise, a recent study by the National Health Performance Authority indicates that rural areas like Dubbo have been hit hard. As an example, people in rural areas of NSW are three times as likely to be overweight than residents of Sydney.
Annette’s Story
Recently, one of the Downsizing Dubbo’s success stories featured in local paper Dubbo’s Photo News.
“In the last couple of weeks, there’s been a growing number of Dubbo region residents finding a hope. Hope that’s been missing in their lives for a long, long time. Annette Webber is one of them. Following a chance encounter on the street, Mrs Webber has [a way to] tackle a weight problem which, she says, left her utterly depressed.”
‘I was very sick just over two years ago. I couldn’t even shower myself,’ she said. Finally revealing: ‘I was obese. Badly diabetic, I couldn’t breathe. My life was hell,’ she says in the Dubbo Photo News feature. ‘My son said I had to stop and do a diet with him because if I didn’t, they were going to bury me.’
Annette ran into SuperFastDiet co-founders Gen Davidson and Victoria Black on the main street of Dubbo, the day they launched the Dubbo weight loss challenge. It was as if a higher power was answering her prayers!
‘I’ve been on such a high knowing these ladies are going to help me,’ Annette tells the paper.
Annette’s Results
Since then, Annette (or ‘Netty’ as she’s affectionately known) has lost 13kg in eight weeks. And, as a result, she feels like a new woman!
