super power of 1
1 PERSON CAN IMPACT SO MANY
We believe in the power of 1 small step leading to giant leaps for woman (and man) kind. And that small step starts with shifting the mindset of each individual.
Obesity and poverty are worldwide problems, but the solutions start with the people themselves. Our work lies in empowering each person’s potential: to educate themselves, to love themselves, and share that love with the wider community.
We believe in the Super Power of 1.
Our partnernership with The Humankind Project has already empowered so many superheroes around the world. In 2015, The Human Kind Project provided funds to the Hunger Project programs that empowered women, their families and communities across Africa and South Asia to generate their own change.
Alamensh is now equipped to protect her children from malnutrition thanks to the ‘Moringa’ project in Ethiopia.
“The Hunger Project granted me a micro credit, which I used to buy some sheep and cows. I fattened them up and sold them at a profit. My husband has used his micro credit to buy a tuktuk to drive customers to the city. We will not experience food shortages ever again!”
Beti Saket is an Elected Woman Representative in one of the most marginalised communities in India.
With leadership training from The Hunger Project, she learned how to have her initiative approved and implemented. Thanks to Beti, more than 75 malnourished children have already been treated at Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres.
Louise has used her microfinance loan to start a local business and empower her villiage in Dotan, Benin.
"We have become much more independent. Before, I mainly traded in corn. Now I also have a shop with homewares and clothes… I'm also active in a committee that monitors the work of the public health post."
