Once upon a time, coffee was a slow drink. A delicious indulgence enjoyed leisurely with good company.
Throughout history, coffee houses were hubs for intellectuals, artists and socialites to gather and linger over their brew. A far cry from the rushed cardboard cup takeaways we’re used to today.
For many, the coffee (or tea) experience has mutated from leisurely sips at a café, to more of a re-fuel drill that’s akin to filling up your car at the petrol station. In fact, you can pick your coffee up at the petrol station these days, and if that’s not fast enough, you can get one at a drive-through.
We’re not judging your caffeine routine – we’re 100% guilty of snatching the fastest fix. But today we’re taking a stand.
Or a seat, actually.
With a cup of tea or coffee, at home on the porch or at the local café. And we’re drinking out of a ceramic cup! How’s that for extravagance?
Today, let your coffee be more than just a drink. Consider it your ‘me’ time. Instead of taking a hurried first sip and burning your tongue, take a moment to smell the sweet grounds and get hypnotized by the steam rising from your bevvy as it cools.
Read the paper, watch the world wake up and give yourself a pat on the back for taking time out for you. Think about the week gone by and all you were able to achieve, and set some new goals for the week ahead. Take a moment to practice gratitude. Or simply just sit and stare.
Because it’s Sunday and you’re special.
What is Self-Care Sunday? It’s your weekly reminder to treat yourself, slow down and make sure you’re taking extra special care of number one. Because the first step to long-lasting weight loss is self-love!
