For most people, the weekend is all about eating and drinking and generally over-indulging. It’s the reward part of our week, time to let our hair down and socialize with friends and family, but unfortunately letting loose can make your waistband tighter which can be a real downer come Monday. Problem is, even if you eat normally during the week, those big weekends will add up to weight gain over time and leave you feeling guilty, sluggish, less healthy and less attractive overall. ‘Aint nothing like busting out of too-tight jeans to kill your confidence.
But now there’s a way to eat, drink and be merry on the weekend without guilt and without paying for it on the scales and it’s all achievable in a single stint just by doing what like to call ‘the one day diet’. Simply by cutting your cals right down to 500 for one 24 hour period post the weekend you will reverse the weight gained in one hit – and it isn’t as hard as it sounds! Men can even have 600 cals. The trick is in the choices you make on that one day and yes, you can stay full on such a low amount. It’s surprising, trust us. Here’s what a sample day might look like:
Breakfast: Black tea/coffee, 2 egg white omelette with tomato and lean ham, salt and pepper
Morning Tea: Black coffee/tea, an apple or a punnet of strawberries
Lunch: Pumpkin soup (Darikay), one piece of wholegrain toast with 1 tsp butter
Afternoon tea: Black coffee/tea or chicken broth
Dinner: Grilled barramundi fillet with lemon, steamed veggies with mashed cauliflower
Dessert: Black coffee/tea
See? Pretty doable huh? Reducing to a 500 cal limit one day a week can whip that weight straight back to Friday’s number and there’s even more good news for one day fasters: it’s excellent for your health. Intermittent fasting can delay the onset of disease, prolong lifespan and burn fat more rapidly than other dieting methods.
MAKING IT TWO DAYS A WEEK FOR WEIGHT LOSS
If your goal isn’t just to drop the weekend indulge bulge and actually lose more weight ongoing, simply by extending the 500 cal fast day from one to two 500 cal days a week you will continually lose weight – on average 1.3kg per week (based on SuperFastDiet member averages). That’s pretty much the easiest weight loss method around – no flogging yourself at the gym, no restricting your calories 7 days a week, no guilt! In fact, even of you get half-way through a 500 cal day and accidentally eat a cheeseburger and most of your friends fries, you can simply swap the fast day to another day, i.e. start again tomorrow.
