We all get a little snacky now and again, right? As easy as it is to go for the chocolate biscuits or last night’s leftovers, ultimately, they will very quickly add up in calories and leave you feeling pretty unsatisfied. Find below 12 of our favourite healthy snacks to grab when you’re short on time, that won’t break the (cash or calorie) bank!
Make In Bulk For Later
Make these super simple and delicious goodies in bulk over the weekend when time is on your hands, for when you need some quick and nutritious healthy snacks to munch on during the week!
Air Popped Popcorn
Popcorn is often associated with a lot of melted butter and being mixed in with Maltesers at the cinemas. Unfortunately, we don’t mean popcorn like that. We mean simply popping a little bit of salt in with corn kernels and POPPING the popcorn yourself. This only takes a couple of minutes and will provide you with a whole lot of gorgeous popcorn, with the easiest way to do this being in the microwave or in a pot over the stove.
A serving (50g) of kernels popped without oil from our favourite brand, Riviana Popping Corn Kernels, is only 190 calories! And that will provide you with a whole lot of delicious popcorn!
Bliss Balls
Bliss balls are such a versatile, easy and delicious way to quickly enjoy a little sweet treat any time of day. There are hundreds of awesome recipes online, with flavours galore to suit you.
You can even find a few great recipes in our recipe library too including Lemon Poppy Seed, Orange and Hazelnut, or the delicious Hazelnut, Raspberry and Chia Bliss Balls which you can try from our blog! At only 86 calories per ball, they are full of nutrition and chocolatey goodness!
Roasted Chickpeas
This has to be one of the easiest and most delicious snacks if you are wanting a bit of crunch and flavour, plus is definitely one of the cheapest options, with a tin of chickpeas being less than $1.
Simply rinse and drain your chickpeas, and pat dry to remove the moisture. Then coat in a little olive oil and any flavours and spices you like and put them in the oven or the air fryer to enjoy. Pop them in at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes in the oven or 10-20 minutes in the air fryer, and then keep them in an airtight container for whenever you are feeling a little peckish! #delish
Savoury Muffins
Savoury muffins, similarly to the bliss balls above, are great as they allow for a fair bit of flexibility and a whole lot of nutrition – even the kids might like them! Simply chuck whatever veggies you have available in the fridge with eggs, a bit of flour, some herbs and spices and VOILA, you’ve got yourself a perfect on the go breaky to grab or a snack to chuck in your bag for later!
There are recipes galore online (and a few great recipes in our members’ recipe library of course).
Similarly to muffins, a frittata is a great food to meal prep for the week for when you are time-poor, or just feel like a nutritious and super easy lunch or dinner! Here is a recipe for our gorgeous Vegetable Frittata, pictured below! How gorgeous does it look?
Hard-Boiled Eggs
Look… it might be a little smelly, but one of the easiest, protein-rich snacks you can grab is a humble boiled egg. Simply pop a few eggs into boiling water for 12-13 minutes, leaving you with a great snack or salad topper ready to go for the week!
Grab and Go
These great healthy snacks are our go-to’s whether you are lost in the supermarket or kept in bulk at home, as they require little to no time to get ready to eat and are able to be enjoyed any time of the day for work or when the kids yell “Mummm, I’m hungry!”
Grapes
Enjoy them as they are, or have them frozen to add a bit of crunch and keep them longer! Grapes are packed full of nutrients, especially Vitamin C and K, as well as high in fibre and antioxidants, to keep your body in tip-top shape.
Grapes really are one of the easiest and healthiest sweet treats to grab on the go. There are so many types to choose from too! Green, purple, yellow or red? The choice is all yours!
Veggie Sticks
Veggie sticks are a staple when it comes to quick, healthy and super low-cal snacks in most peoples books! Whether it be celery, carrot, capsicum or cucumber, you can easily enjoy them on their own or pair them with a delicious dip like hummus, tzatziki or guacamole!
Veggie sticks are a must when it comes to a healthy and aesthetically pleasing grazing board. Find out what else we like to include on our low-cal, healthy grazing boards by clicking here!
Strawberries
A favourite sweet treat of ours are berries, but strawberries definitely are the winner. Being one of the least expensive berries, delicious and also so incredibly low calorie, it is hard to go past them! A whole punnet of juicy strawberries is only about 40 calories. So don’t be afraid to munch away!
Cherry Tomatoes
Cherry tomatoes punch such a gorgeous mix of sweet and salty goodness! They pair wonderfully with veggie sticks or a salad, or simply enjoy a whole punnet for only about 45 calories. They are another awesome on-the-go snack when you don’t know what else to grab in the supermarket.
Corn Thins
Corn thins are a staple in the SuperFastDiet office, being a fabulous alternative to bread for a snack or easy and quick fast-day lunch. The topping options are endless and can satisfy any craving, whether it be sweet or savoury!

Yoghurt Tubs
Yoghurt tubs are a super easy and satisfying snack to grab when you quickly need a snack or something to satisfy those sweet cravings, with a whole lot of nutrition packed in too. Our favourite brands are Danone Yo-Pro tubs or Chobani Fit tubs, as they both are packed with calcium plus 15g of protein and come in a whole variety of awesome flavours. Most range from 90-120 calories.
Tinned Fish
Another possibly stinky option that some of your colleagues might not necessarily love you for at lunch time is fish! Whether it be tuna, salmon or sardines, yes they can be a bit pongy, but the health benefits, low cost, convenience and taste might just be worth it. Sorry, work wives!
