‘I hadn’t worn shorts since the seventies’
When Diana Fraser began SuperFastDiet she’d almost resigned herself that, at 67 years old, she would never lose the excess weight she carried.
“I felt my age,” Diana says. “frumpy and dour. I was in size 18 clothes galloping towards size 20.”
Diana says she couldn’t wear modern clothes and lived in caftans and loose-fitting tops. She also hid her lower body which she considered classic pear-shaped, describing her legs as ‘chunky’. She didn’t wear dresses and hadn’t dared to don a pair of shorts since the nineteen-seventies.
It wasn’t just her appearance that bothered her either. Diana had little energy when it came to walking with her grandchildren, saying half an hour was more than enough for her.
“Let’s face it, I displayed all the behaviours of a couch potato. Exercise was spasmodic and mainly restricted to short walks. I joined gyms and the novelty of that wore off very quickly. While I did stop short of getting in the car to check the mailbox, I will admit to driving to the supermarket to buy chocolate.”
That was the irony. As with so many others who battle with their weight, she self-sabotaged further by comforting herself with junk food.
“I was eating a lot of snack food at night and not making good food choices. The supermarket confectionery aisle was a regular destination.”
Diana’s health was suffering too, a common result of carrying excess weight, especially for people in their sixties and seventies. She has a predisposition to elevated cholesterol levels as well as a vitamin D deficiency.
Diana tried everything to lose weight, including all the main diet methods, books, meal replacements, and home food delivery, but she found them all boring, restrictive and unsustainable. Meanwhile, her self-esteem and general outlook continued to decline.
“I was always tired, lacked energy, and felt my age. I hated that I couldn’t find nice clothes to wear. My weight was heading north. I don’t think I was fun to be around, and my stress levels were high.”
Then, in March 2021, Diana saw SuperFastDiet on Facebook and decided to give it a try.
The results were rapid and encouraging. By mid-May she’d lost almost 6kgs, finding the online program easy to follow.
“Even though I am not technically minded the website is not difficult to navigate.”
She liked the fact that she could prepare meals to suit the whole family, and she loved the support of the community. She also found the choice of three methods appealing.
“It is so simple. The flexibility of having 3 methods: part day, 3-day, and 2-day, or combining two of these, allows you to choose what works for you,” Diana says. “No food is forbidden or compulsory. There are some great recipes in the library. As (co-founders) Gen and Vic say it is unbreakable.”
Diana has lost an amazing 18kgs on SuperFastDiet and has dropped her dress size from a size 18-20 to a size 10.
It was the mindset shift, however, that was the real game changer for Diana and it soon affected all other areas of her life. Diana reports smiling more and handling stress far better, saying her new outlook helped her to cope with her husband having open heart surgery as well as problems at work. She’s also far fitter, walking over 5kms a day, and keeping up with the grandchildren is a breeze.
Diana says her health has improved and her husband’s too who has also lost 7kgs, just by loosely following Diana’s example.
She no longer feels her age, or frumpy and dour. Diana says it’s very exciting being able to buy nice clothes.
“I walked into a dress shop last week and purchased a dress in size 10. Makes a change from Kaftan tops and loose-fitting clothes! As for being ‘pear-shaped’, Diana says “What has been interesting is that I have lost weight from my legs.”
And yes, she is wearing shorts once more.
“I don’t think I have worn shorts since the 70’s. I purchased one pair a few weeks back and used every excuse under the sun to not wear them. Too cold, need tanning on my legs, need to shave my legs, the day ends in a “y”. However once I did put them on, I was so pleased, I bought 2 more pairs!”
Diana says she encourages anyone to give this way of losing weight a go.
“If you have tried everything else, you want to achieve all these things, and nothing has worked, it is time to take it up a notch and try SFD. I have been so surprised about all the flow on benefits of this program and how it is a lifestyle for me now.”
“I cannot believe that I have done this. I am feeling more relaxed and can “flip” situations to make them work for me,” Diana adds. “It’s made me a happier person.”
